• The UK uses 12.5 million tonnes of paper and cardboard each year.

• Paper was invented over 2000 years ago in China.

• Over a quarter of what we throw away is paper.

• Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide all the paper we use in the UK.

• The amount of waste paper buried in landfill sites each year would fill 103,448 double decker buses.

• Every year the average British family throws away 6 trees worth of paper.

• Each tonne of paper recycled saves 17 trees.
