Recycle for Cornwall
The Recycle for Cornwall campaign has been developed to raise public awareness of recycling and to provide consumers with a compelling reason to recycle.
• The UK uses 12.5 million tonnes of paper and cardboard each year.
• Paper was invented over 2000 years ago in China.
• Over a quarter of what we throw away is paper.
• Every year we need a forest the size of Wales to provide all the paper we use in the UK.
• The amount of waste paper buried in landfill sites each year would fill 103,448 double decker buses.
• Every year the average British family throws away 6 trees worth of paper.
• Each tonne of paper recycled saves 17 trees.
