  Steel Recycling Facts

• 3 out of 4 cans produced in the UK are made of steel.

• 2 billion steel cans are recycled every year in the UK. That’s about 7 million a day!

• Steel is made of iron ore, coke (that’s made from coal, not Coca-Cola!), limestone and some scrap steel.

• In Cornwall we throw away 300 million steel cans a year. All of these can be recycled.

• Steel cans are recycled and made into more cans, parts of bridges, paper clips and lots more.

• Steel can be recycled over and over again.
