How Do I Start Waste Minimisation in my Company?

Follow the waste minimisation hierarchy for the best long-term benefits and look for solutions for your organisation which are as close as possible to the top of this hierarchy.
Use a Systematic Approach
Commitment - for any recycling or minimisation scheme to work, you must have senior management support. Ideally a board member or senior manager should have specific responsibility for the environment. This shows commitment for the scheme and that it isn't just 'green wash'
Assessment - if you don't measure it…you can't manage it. To be able to measure progress and your performance towards targets you must establisgh a baseline. This means taking a base year and calculating your total waste. You are then in a position to monitor changes on an ongoing basis. Rank Options - Based on the information you collect with regard to quantities, you are then in a position to prioritise those waste streams that have a significant impact on the environment and your business.
Prepare and Implement an Action Plan - Finally, now that you know what waste your organisation produces, how much is produced, and the impact this could be having, you are in a position to develop an action plan. This should detail how you are going to reduce the waste you produce, by what level, who is responsible and by when. Remember, keep your objectives SMART.
